valid since

travelers to Hungary. EU-citizens
may enter without inspection "- under the agreement. Most
of us forget that the customs legislation with the Schengen Agreement
were not changed. While
in Hungary the immigration controls are almost
completely disappeared, are Schengen passengers despite EU agreement
and sharper controls determining forever. Due
to terrorist threat - they say.

the Schengen Agreement EU nationals enjoy up to 90 days visa-free stay

Currency:
The best place to you
change your money is Hungary. The
best exchange rate we found on 20/03/2010 in the exchange office on
Erzsébet körút 8 in Budapest, just
opposite the
Boscolo Hotel, once known as "New York Palace", like it became famous.
The
current price:
Cash
will be best exchanged at the the Downtown-exchange
offices in Budapest. At the counter of big banks you
get
significantly less forint for foreigh currencies, since banks are less
flexible to changes on internatinal parquets. Big
banks
adjust the price once a week, small changers sometimes do this
more than once a day.
|
Credit
cards are
accepted: in many stores and so-called cash
machines (ATMs)
in front of banks and larger shopping centers
- mostly in the entrance area.
Passenger
car: Outside
of housing estates lights have to be turned on.
Gen. Speed
Limit: in
village areas 50 km / h, countraside limit is 90 km / h and on
motorways 130 km / h.
Alcohol
limit: There
is a total ban on alcohol with zero tolerance.
Emergency Call: 112
Physicians. Supply: The
new
EU insurance cards are accepted in general. The best way is
to ask
your insurance company before the trip.
The
addresses of some German speaking doctors
and dentists in the
vicinity of our apartments, we share our guests on request with
you. We
can recommend dentists who practice in Germany and
treat their patients in Budapest because
of cost reasons. They
have no interest to take money from tourists. The
training of Hungarian dentists is much more thoroughly than the Germans
and the quality of the materials is at least as good, often better than
in many western countries. The
treatment costs are
significantly lower than in Germany.
Your
way to Hungarian dentist:
1. Let
your dentist to create
a treatment plan in your country.
2. Treatment
plan be approved by your health insurance company.
3. The
cost of treatment in Hungary you
must take first, before your fund will be reimbursed in your country.
Examination may
cost 20-30 euros. Depending
on the distance from your home to the Hungarian dentist, the
money
you spare on one crown, you may travel twice to Hungary and if your
dentist have to do more threatements, you definitely make a good
business by making your teeth in Hungary.
|
Your
way to ahe Hungarian Optician is also worthy - you
find them everywhere in Hungary.
Reports
from the Hungarian Department of Health (Early 2009) sais: The
population of Hungary will be tested for HIV since 1985. The
study is accepted by the Hungarian people for granted. Each
year up to 4,000 people volunteered, but they were anonymous. By
2009, a total of 1,700 cases were registered. This
makes 0.017% of
the total population of Hungary. This
also includes the number of infected foreigners have been registered in
Hungary. About
80% of them are men - a proportion that is roughly
the same in
Western European countries. Among
infected people the proportion
of young heterosexual girls is rapidly
increasing
last time.
Noteworthy
is the situation in neighboring state
Ukraine:
The
proportion of those infected is extremely high in neighboring Ukraine,
where the problem is ignoiert by the government. Thus,
already more than 500,000 people, infected more than 1% of the 46.2
million Ukrainians. The
population is largely unexplained, there is no government control, the
proportion of infected people among the prostitutes is more than 90%..

 Public
Transport in Hungary
Railways -
Hungary has a relatively dense rail network. There
are three international railway stations in Budapest:
-
Deli pu. (South
Station) - trains to Lake Balaton,
-
Keleti pu. (Eastern)
- Here come the trains from western countries and / or continue in the
Balkans,
-
Nyugati pu. (West
Station) - from here the trains mostly in the eastern and northern
parts of the country, but also in Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland and
Ukraine.
Bus - With
the governement company "Volánbusz" you
can reach almost every village in Hungary.
EU
citizens can travel for free from the Age of 65
- nationwide in the
public transport system. Your permission
may be proven by governement workers, even if they are in civil. The
ride is free in:
-
2nd in the Class
trains in Hungary. For
trains requiring reservation before space or special tickets must be
resolved if there is an office or a ticket automat at the
station,
where you ascend;
-
In the buses of the company Volánbusz;
-
On all public transport vehicles (tram, metro, railway, bus and
suburban railway and tram) in Budapest - however tickets must be bought
for the

Security
and thieves? -
you can find anywhere!
According
to an American statistics (June 2010), the airport of Dusseldorf in
Germany is the most dangerous place in Europe, a lot less dangerous is
Frankfurt / Main and Munich is almost the safest place in Europe.
Usually
the big cities are the most dangerous targets of thieves. An
American study showed the world's most dangerous cities: Barcelona /
Spain (Las Ramblas), Rome, Italy (Colosseum), Prague, Czech Republic
(Charles Bridge, Metro, restaurants and car theft), Madrid / Spain
(flea market El Rastro), Paris, France, Buenos Aires, Argentina,
Amsterdam, Netherlands, Athens, Greece and Hani / Vietnam. Tourists
in China are the safest because of extreme punishment for the robbery
of tourists. In
Thailand, South America and South Africa there are more and more
attacks on tourist buses. In
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Vindhok / Namibia and South Africa, armed
attacks on tourists pile up, the hotel room can often be cleared,
probably by the hotel staff and the police play with obviously.
- On
the list of the world's most dangerous cities in Budapest is not even
mentioned! -
This is the result of a consistent police action for many years to curb
the political changes in Hungary during the 1990s in the short term of
the sudden opening of the border, the authorities were not
prepared. Hungary
now is one of the safest countries in Europe.
Tips
for your holiday safety: You start at
home, no matter which country you are visiting. Some investments
may prevent many difficulties. Backpacks
and bags should be worn on the body and holded with both hands
if you are crowded. Under
no circumstances are purses and cell phones in his pockets, where they
are easy to steal. It
is also a good advice not to let strangers to start conversation with -
no matter how well dressed and friendly they are!
|

Post - The
Hungarian mailbox is red and located mostly on the outer walls of post
offices in or near the post office entrance.
|
|
Lost property - there is no office for
this in
Budapest. The Mayor's Office (Polgármesteri Hivatal) of the
district is the right place to announce the loss of anything
important.
|
|
Dog:
If traveling with your pet, then you have take take the
vaccination card with. The restrictions on beaches and in
restaurants are noted well, as in Germany. At Lake Balaton
and many lakes dog ban is common.

| 2. Hungarian Cuisine |
| |
The
globalization, commercialization and privatization
wiped out
many restaurants in Budapest, offering specialized or only Hungarian
food - like in other countries.
In the
travel brochures, the Gundel
Restaurant in the city park is known as the
first place in town
for many decades - but we have different opinion, because of many years
of experience. Family
owned
since 1894, the restaurant of Charles Gundel junior was expropriated
after the war, his heirs were never asked for the return of unlawfully
expropriated properties. Gundel was and is a gastronomically
oriented family of Nuremberg, the pots and pans from Gundel are still
of superior quality. At Gundel they cook soo culinary, that even
Hungarian cooks may hardly recognize, if they
have a national specialty on their dishes. In todays emphasis
on
culinary garnish, there are more and more new restaurants in the city
center, Gundel could not keep up with them - even
if it comes
on the culinary.
Gipsy music in inns
- We do not recommend the restaurants in the Citadel at the top of
Gellert Hill and Castle Hill, Mátyáspince (Matt
Cellar)
at the Elisabeth Bridge, and others in the highly acclaimed commercial
oriented tourist brochures - restaurants with Gypsy music. We
think, too much foreign exchange rip-off is underway, when the primate
(Pre Hilfiger the gypsy band) fiddles as long into the ears, that one's
eardrums hurt and looses his appetite from the stress, so if you do not
spend timely and enough tips, the Prímás
won´t lef
you alone. If todays gypsy musician complain, why their music is not
very popular today, then their commercially influenced
intrusiveness is first to be called. Another reason for their
loosing popularity is the fact, that the excellent
masters of
this music division is playing foreign guests the saddest grief
Hungarian love-hit from the 1920s - today only known by the oldest
Hungarian generation.

Frici
Papa
Address:
Kiraly utca 55 in the 7th District - perhaps 200 meters from
the
main Ringroad Erzsébet körút on the way
to Downtown.
Opening
times: Mon-Sat 11-23 Clock
A very
simple restaurant with home cooking, that Mama
would´nt do better. There are few hidden
restaurants in Budapest,
still
cooking with a very
wide range of Hungarian
recipes. Here you get a glass of wine for less than 1 euro (July 2011)
and you can be sure, this wine came from a wineyard and was not
composed in a winedesigner studio.
You may
walk to Frici Papa on a short way from the
holiday apartments and in
about 5-10 minutes. One
station drive by streetcat to "Király utca" may shorten the
time to get there.

Sir
Lancelot
6th
district of Budapest, Podmaniczky utca 14, - ca. 5
minuten away from the Western Railway Station
Telephone: +36-1-302-4456
The
shortage of the premises and the darkness in
the former coal cellar of the
house are, unfortunately, unpleasant, even
if it is too early in
the evening and the tables are
empty. But this
happens rarely, because this outwardly culinary restaurant
is mostly crowded. As for the
food, the offer consists mainly of grilled, greatest
economy fare. No complain is possible in this loudy
restaurant, because nobody will hear it. About the cuisine yo
won´t find a guest, complaining about
the non-typical food or the high
prices. We are entitled, however, if one
computed the medieval looking closely
representations between the long tables and chairs. Belly
dancing, fire breathing and martial-looking sword fights of yesteryear
are some of the performances. If that appeals, this local is really out
of place. We recommend telephone reservation.
You may
walk to SirLancelot on a short way from the
holiday apartments und in about 10 minutes. One
station drive by streetcat to "Nyugati" may shorten the time to get
there.

Pastrami
Restaurant
"Óbuda"
in the 3rd
district of Budapest, Lajos
utca 93-99 - closed to suburban train station "Tímár
utca"
In 2008 opened restaurant with
excellent cuisine -
modern, offers the latest imitation
of finger food specialties from New York. Excellent
food at reasonable prices - where
else can one say that? You come
quickly to food -
even from 3-4 € and the
highest price is at 3,900 forints,
about 15 € for trout or beef.
As of February 2011.
You may
walk to Pastrami restaurant on a short way from these
holiday apartments and in a few minutes.

Vörös Postakocsi
(Red Cargo)
located
at "Ráday utca"
Street 15,
about 2 Minuten away from "Kálvin tér"
Square
(Metro statinon of the line 3, crossing the line 4 soon).
Traditional Hungarian dishes and barbeque.
Among
the many new
dining establishments in this street, we can
only recommend
this "Voros
Postakocsi" - the only restaurant and sidewalk
café with an old tradition. Last
time, about 150 years ago horse cargo coaches have changed their horses
here. Originally a coffee house since 1970, the only
restaurant with music in this street was restored in 2002,
also converted for disabled people.
It is kind
of funny how here better wines are
offered "only to try." Have your
fun!
You get lunch here every
day a three-course meal at
a price. 4, - € (June2010).
The gypsy music inside is here for
dinner.
Around
the first corner you need less than 1 minute walk to this restaurant
from these apartments: and
and for young people is this restaurant also closed from the holiday
apartments: and .

Big Market
Hall
- East of the river Danube
at "Szabadsághíd" bridge,
just opposit to hot spa Gellert under the Mont Gellert.
By coming from the North, you find this market hall at the end of
pedestrian walking street "Váci utca", between river Danube
and Kálvin
Square.
Opening: Mondays 6-17h
Tue-Fri: 6-18h
Saturdays: 6-14h
If Tourist-Joe
want to cook Hungarian dishes out of really
fresh food than we have to recommend the shop,
market halls, of which there are several in Budapest.
There are also better market halls, with a greater variety of food, but
adjusted especially for tourists is only the Great Market Hall at the
Freedom Bridge. You can get around with your German or English
here, at least at places,
where souvenirs will be chattering.
About catering at
the Great Market Hall:
There is
only one restaurant, called "Fakanál" above at
upper floor, where the
Hungarian cuisineis presented to special
tourist prices, for which one could take dinner in classy
restaurants and not just here on rare clean camping tables, in
a hurry. What you get in this restaurant,
you can easily cook at home in your
country. The
less the country-specific flavors, which
are inadjacent stalls on the upper
floor will receive:
- Hungarian Bratwurst - 1000
times better than Krakauer, Thuringian sausages
or all together.
Hurka is (= Well sausage, identical with German blood and liver
sausage, similar to thenorthern German blood
sausage) and in Hungary as
a blood-fried and liver
sausage,tastes in the market
hall with
a Hungarian nuance and a little
spicier than its namesake in Germany. No wonder, because
her recipe
was brought to Hungary
by German settlers from the
old country and turned into a local style food in Hungary. They belong
to every butcher plate in Hungary, traditionally they are served in all
Hungarian families at Christmas and Easter time.
- Langos with garlic -
that is, Langosch original, everything
else is commercial. Langos was
called originally "Nuremberg donuts", was naturalized by Bavarian
settlers to Hungary as good, that todays Hungarian people think, this
is Hungary's national delicacy. The
Nuremberg fritters known today,
in
fact, still in Germany, but only in a
few villages in the
Nuremberg area.
- At some stalls,
you can taste different country wine or may take away.
|
|
You may
about 200 meters to the Big Market Hall from these holiday
apartments and is just an other 300 meters
away.
Note:
Voros Postakocsi and
the Great Market Hall are perhaps 400 m away
from each other - and the restaurant Kárpátia is
located in north only one short
metro station away from the
"Kalvin tér" Square.

If you
are at Restaurant
Kárpátia .... diagonally
across the square is the so-called
Ferenciek tere
Square, you see
Párizsi Udvar (= Paris court), a magnificent building dating
from 1913 (leftoff: Ráday Mihály - N.
Kósa Judit
1999: utcán Jelenetek a pesti
Karinthy Kiadó
Budapest.).
Front behind the small tree is
the
entrance to Jégbüfé (= ice
cream
buffet), a patisserie with a café, where
you get all famous pastry
shop in the country after the
original prescription to take away. In
brochures, other
pastry shops and restaurants praised, where one
supposedly
better cakes are produced
(ie usually more sugar,
butter or cream). However, one should pay attention
to the original
recipe, for which ice cream
buffet and Gerbeaud ensure.
At the
end of the 19th Century there were in fact
the best
Budapest hotels, hired countlesschefs and pastry chefs
from France,
all traditional Hungarian recipes were developed a way,
today you can say, the "more is not better ".
Coffee
drinking is a noble at Gerbeaud (he was
the most
famous pastry chef) in the own magnificent Gerbaud
building (right pic) at the northern end of
the pedestrian shopping
street "Váci
utca" at
the Vörösmarty tér. Opened here in
1858 by Henry Kugler, who then was the most famous pastry
chef in the country, Kugler was often copied but never
reached, so
much about the Budapest Kugler, called after
him. Specialties of the house, go
there in the original, refined
setting of the 19th
Century with the best delicacies to pamper original recipe. Ask here
for "Dobostorta", the most
famous creation of Kugler's
successor, Emil Gerbaud, the best cake shop
in the K
and K century before World War
II era. Now Gerbaud
is aworld-famous pilgrimage site in the pastry sweet
tooth. It is up to
you to decide whether the Dobos
cake at
Gerbeaud in Budapest or Sacher Torte at the
Hotel Sacher in Vienna tastes
better. On
the left picture you can
see the three
specialties of the house, from left: Dobos
cake,
Gerbeaud sections andKugler, the most
famous creation of founder Henry Kugler. A
comparison with the mass-produced Mozart ball would
be only
insultation to the Kugler, some experts say. The
Gerbeaud products
will be delivered
by planes in over ten countries today. |

Commercial city tour -
in a sight-seeing bus with tour
guide
One provides
up to 4
hours long sight seeing tour with tour
guide in buses from Deák
tér
Square, where the cities all three subway lines
intersect. These buses go between Heroes'
Square (left picture) and Castle Hill (next
picture), while it is often in
the traffic
jam, for example, Andrássy út
boulevard in the
street in front of the Heroes'
Square - an
annotated with regret, however, like margin
allowed revenue source for
buses and tour
guides.

Alternative City Tour
- on your own with the tramway line 2
Our recommendation is
not only in good weather is a
non-commercial
tourist attraction of Budapest - a round trip on
the eastern bank of the Danube along the riverside,
withthe tram line 2. A trip in Pest, the
eastern part of
Budapest.
When one begins the journey in
the
morning, then the mountains in the
west are still
illuminated by the morning sun.
Afternoon, the sights are on the
opposite
mountain peaks a bit gray. When the sun shines,
everything shines even in high
summer. - This tour provides a good
overview of the main attractions of Budapest and
giving you some initial ideas for further
explorations
of the city.
This tour is
suitable for
active tourists and lasts, depending
on your activity from two hours up to half a
day. For this trip, you should
bye tram tickets,
preferably one day or week pass, or
even the Budapest Card, as well
as information on
the sights of
Budapest. This saves your
guide, you are independent from a
bus
group and you watch whatever you are really interested for.
Whether you start this tour at the
terminal
stations or, for example at the Big Market
Hall, the
Elisabeth or Chain Bridge, it is up to you.
First, it is towards the
south - from the terminus at the Margaret Bridge:
From the tram
you can see the
following sites of
eastern Budapest :
Parliament - 1-2 stops south of the Margaret Bridge you
drive around the 96 m high
and 296 m long Parliament building.
It is one of
the architectural landmarks of Budapest.
Chain Bridge -
the first bridge across the
Danube in Budapest. The bridge architect
Adam Clark strutted its perfect work at
the bridge opening ceremony and promised to suicide
during
the event, if someone discovers a bug in his
building.
After some time there was an error found. A
stonemason forgot to carve
the tongues into
the open mouths of four lions at
the
bridgeheads. Then Adam Clark committed
suicide immediately by jumping in
front
of the assembled audience at the
ceremony in the rushing waves of
the Danube.
South of
the Parliament we have a
never ending panorama view, first
on the Castle
Hill. The sights in the
western district
of Buda, in order:
-
Fishermen's Bastion,
-
Matthias Church
- Royal
Palace - the building of
the castle was started after the
Mongol invasion in th e
early 13th Century. The king received
his
castle in Baroque
style in the period of Maria
Theresa, Empress of Austria and Queen of
Hungary. The
palace now houses the Hungarian National Gallery.
Including walks,
this visit may take you 1-2 hours, if you're already on top of
the castle.
- Gellert
Hill - On top of that is the Citadel, which
were removed
in 1849 built by the
Habsburgs against the rebellious Hungary and
its military installations after the Compromise of
1867 only
became redundant in 1904. In the wall systems is
now a
culinary operation with disco.
-
Drive
to the terminus at the
new cultural center
with the National Theatre and Music Hall on the
eastern bank
of the river Danube, if you are interested
in
modern architecture or a ticket. for an
audience
Then the trip back
to North:
Get over from Gellert
Hill on the Freedom
Bridge. - Up to the era,
soviet ruled red power occupied Budapest from 1948, the
Liberty Bridge was called Franz
Josef bridge. It was a gift from the Emperor to
Budapest and for the sake of
his wife, Lissa, the one in Germany called falsely and
jokingly Sissi. - Closed
to the bridge is the Great Market
Hall, a brick building built in 1896, one of
the tourist attractions of
Budapest. The best time
to visit is the late morning. Since fruits and
vegetables are fresh
for the purchase and on
the upper floor the
only restaurant "Fakanál" (= wooden spoon)
is already open. - For the
active tourist
we suggest you take the food
stalls that
offer mostly genuine local
specialties of
Hungarian cuisine.
After
a meal and refreshment in
the market hall, you make
your the best ride away to the
northern terminus at
Margaret Bridge. If someone wants to go to
the south again, you
can memorize the Parliament and
the said landmarks again. Perharps for an
other
refreshment in the Big Market Hall. |

6. purchasing tips
|
|
|
Even
if the spinning rates of the red era are over, in Budapest you can
still get a bargain ... or obtain country-specific dishes.
Insider
tip: Many German brand products are cheaper in Hungary - for example
medications such as aspirin, brand underwear shooter and triumph or
down-bedding Billerbeck. Note the shape of the
pillow. They
are rectangular in Hngary, sized 70x90 cm, slightly more practical
than the German 80x80 cm inlets. Car drivers should
take the
pillows and the blankets from Hungary, goose down there are abundant
and cheaper than in Germany.
A
not very long section of the street "Deák Ferenc utca"
between
Vörösmarty tér and Deák
tér, where the
Hotel Kempinski has been since a few years now, was completely
refurbished recently. Here are some brand shops, many
German
fly to Milan or New York to bye these products a
little
cheaper than in New York.
Gift
classics - Traditional gifts and souvenirs from Budapest are especially
porcelain, hand painted at Herend, Pécs (Zsolnay company) or
Hollókő. Other souvenirs include pottery,
embroidery and
doll in the costume look.

Lace
and embroidery - Halas tip is always white and color from
Mezőkövesd (right picture). The embroidery of
Buzsák are
"Veza": blue-red, "rates": blue-black or "boszorkányos":
bright
colorful. An attraction of Buzsák the women sit in
groups
as they stitch in fine weather on the road.
|
Food - paprika > are
rose sharp or noble sweet the fine countrywide typical brand products
basis of the Hungarian kitchen. All other capsicum products
how
e.g. "Spice Paprika" are mass products and you can get them
worldwide in any supermarket.
Inlaid vegetables
- one should choose after own taste market stalls. Leaven
cucumbers (= kovászos Uborka) are a countrywide typical
variant
of hydrochloric Dill cucumbers which one in supermarkets gets only with
borage chemistry, like Spreewald cucumbers are since
Reunification.
Pick Salami - from
Szeged and Herz salami from
Budapest were famous once upon a time, when they were produced from
donkey and horsemeat for days burnt incense and afterwards many weeks
in drafts dried. Nowadays commonly principle prepared from
pigmeat
and original taste more or less well imitated with
spices. The Herz Broders were German original, they produced
with
their original German recipe until nationalization. -
Some
years ago Pick from Szeged bought Herz salami factory and produces more
imitation than the originally Tyrolean salami with a Hungarian
Nuance. Recipe and manufacture procedure were once taught by
Austrian soldiers to butcher Pick of Szeged. The special these
salamis are: Hungarian spice mixture, smoking after
old Tiroler
Montain method and long air drying can afford in Germany no company
more.
About salami
- that should be well known:
Hungarian
salami remains 1-2 years long freshly in air but you must never
refrigerate. At cold temperatures shrinks the meat by
squeezing the salt out ofthe salami in few days and
the taste
is just over. - That is also why Hungarian
butchery
products disappeared from the larger German supermarkets. The rules
made for grocery shops are false, they were made by Brussels
bigwig party bosses, cause they do not know, that air dried
meat
is better, than the one from the fridge, that mabe with mold.
|
Foie gras -
an industrial product, that suffered much after it was
sold expensive for a long time. You may get them served
in many country restaurants much
cheaper than bye
it in the can in tourist shops.
For their fatty livers of
geese and ducks never go to the stuffing, otherwise
they
get no fatty liver, a tissue of matastase, the
precursor of
liver cancer - whether you want to put up with it?
How healthy
naturally liver and foie gras are grown and
how they
differ from each other, you see in
the video to the right>>>
Worldwide
are produced every year up to 2600 tons of
goose and
duck
liver with machineforced tamping. About 80% of
which are
produced in Hungary. - In 15 countries,
including Germany,
the production of foie
gras has been banned. - as
of April 2010.
|
|
|
|
|
Barackpálinka (= apricot brandy) and Szilvapálinka (= plum brandy) is best
bought
from roadside or farmers, since they may
produce their own products - forget the supermarkets.
|
Hungarian
wine
The
wine is a tropical plant that needs to mature a lot of
sunshine. She survives just in the southern half of Germany -
that
is about the Northern part of Hungary. Best known is the
outbreak
wine of Tokaj, from the so-called cold chamber in the north-east part
of the country, where there are south-facing slopes with a sunny
exposure - just like North of the Arctic Circle anywhere.
Even
here can be produced high quality, but it requires a lot of art and a
special production method. For the outbreak of the winery,
wine by
using dry berries in the Christmas season, so they strat
fermentation again. After decades of experimentation,
this
method was the time of the French Sun King. The scent of his
famous king was persuaded that he now gets to taste liquid
gold. Louis XIV was allowed to taste the Tokay outbrake wine
and
he promptly appointed it to the queen of all
wines. Until the
privatization through the political revolution of 1989, the
Tokaj outbreak wine was still syrupy, honey-sweet as ice wine
and
produced only under exceptional circumstances as a spectacle with the
wood-destroying fungus Botrytis (destroys the human cell walls). Since
the new owners of the vineyard, like Axa Insurance from Germany and
other investment speculators, the outbreak wine tastes slightly bitter,
more and more like Wermuth, and also getting thinner and less
sweet. If this is to be the result of traditional
manufacturing
manner, as it is written on the labels, then the Sun
King would
have never praised it as a possible wine.
The
method of manufacturing the outbreak wine is comparable to the
production of sherry wine in Spain, because there too the new wine is
mixed with the old wine. However, there is a significant difference:
the Tokaj is made from high quality grapes and never with sugar in the
barrels - which is strictly controlled. The Tokay result with
about 16% alcohol content is comparable only with the German ice
wine. In the production of sherry wine inferior grape
varieties
are used. So that the alcohol content in wine Sherry still
rises
to only 12-13% is added to brandy. It is remarkable, that the Sherry
wine is made with lots of sugar, but the alcohol is still
poorly
grown up to 12-13%. This indicates so much lab work, it is
clear
that the Sherry wine is made behind the scenes in secret. -
The
question we have left to the sherry lovers: what kind of booze is mixed
with high-proof brandy and sugar in sunny Spain, so that the alcohol
content in sherry wine isn´t more, than 13% achieved if our
common Germany wine often has up to 13% and more alcohol?
By
nature, recommended wines from Hungary without a lot of bells and
whistles - we know a lot. Highlight the Portuguese,
Pinot
Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and other red varieties popular in the
southernmost wine region Villány are from the bench or make
wine
cellars Polgár. What leads you better, bright red
or fine
and mild, you should try it yourself. Except
Villány we can
recommend with conviction, two other also South and sunny vineyards:
Szekszárd (southeast of Lake Balaton, mainly red wine) and
Hajós (in the south of the Danube, in addition to red and
white
wine), because the quality is still made from
grapes originates.

7. Warning of rip-off

It
sounds to
rip-off
Look
around everywhere, where the most tourists go
around, confidence trickser are always there. In
contrast, the score in the five-star hotels are usually well protected,
better than the normal tourist anywhere, so in
Budapest too. One
of the most popular Hungarian souvenir is the famous bitters
by Zwack at the picture on the left. As
a Budapest expert, we wanted to find out, the best place to
bye it - so we started to search Budapest for Unicum. -

the pedestrian zone of Váci utca, house no. 48. The
price for one liter bottle here is 7.850, - HUF (about 27,50
€). The
southern stretch of Vaci utca, between
the Market Hall and Elizabeth Bridge was built
lately, this is not a really part of the
traditional pedestrian shopping street. The
shops here are largely run by new speculators and is well known because
of their arrogant art of lure tourists into a trap. These
part of the pedestrian walkway, south of Elisabeth bridge
you´d better avoid.
In
second place among the con men landed the Great Market Hall Budapest
with 6.800, - (approx. € 23.80) for a liter bottle.
The unit price is obviously here, where the price for paprika and goose
liver much mischief, that is how tourist rip-off operates. In
some country restaurants you can get foi gras cheaper on your dish,
than at the Market Hall in cans.
The
price of 1 liter Unicum in Budapest varies from normal to outrageous,
to our knowledge of 13 - to 27,50 € for the same size, 1 liter
bottle. Here
are some more price examples for a liter bottle:

Map
of the suburban and underground railway lines of Budapest -
The abbreviation of the green HÉV lines means suburban
railway and the underground railway in Budapest
is called Metro, like in New York. The
cars of each train lines are painted in the same color as the lines on
the map. The
existing three Metro lines are called yellow (No. 1), red (No.
2) and blue (No. 3) lines. There are different suburban train lines,
but the all are green painted, like on the following map.
|
 |
The metro lines of Budapest:
The yellow line 1 connects Vorsmarty Square in Downtown pedestrian area
with Heroes Place and furthermore the City Parc.
The
red line 2 connets Eastern Railway Station with Southern Railway
Station.
- At East Railway Station the trains arrive from Western countries and
also from Serbia and Romania. Trains from Southern
Railway Station go to Lake Balaton and surrounding area.
The blue line 3 connects South and North in Pest, on the eastern part Airportof
Budapest. The last station in the South is where airport busses arrive
with tourists, who want to go into the City.
The construction
of a fourth line is well advanced and will soon pass. Line
4 will connect the Eastern Railwas Station with the "Kelenfoldi"
Railway Station - and will probably make Easter Railway
Station
redundant - once upon the time.
